We find the following sites useful, informative and interesting.
The International Organization for Standardization , ISO, provides authoritative information on world wide standardization. Accreditation of Quality System Auditors, formerly administered in Canada by the National Quality Institute, is now managed by RAB QSA (which replaces the former Registrar Accreditation Board) in the USA. There are also other national accreditation bodies in other countries.
For the Canadian connection, start at the Standards Council of Canada, SCC, the National Quality Institute, NQI or the Canadian Standards Association, CSA.
ISO/TS 16949 uses the process approach of ISO 9001:2000 and has replaced QS 9000 as the automotive sector's uniform quality management standard. See the American Society for Quality, ASQ, and Society of Automotive Engineers, SAE, for useful information on practices and standards in the automotive sector.
Check out the American Society for Quality, ASQ, for professional accreditation, publications and membership information. Check the website for links to technical divisions and local sections. Click here for the Toronto Section website.
Professional Engineers and Technologists are regulated and represented by provincial governing bodies. The ones listed here contain links to many other related sites. Check out Professional Engineers Ontario. PEO, which includes links to the other provincial engineering associations, The Consulting Engineers of Ontario, CEO, and Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, OACETT.
ASQ Design and Construction Division is of particular interest to engineers and architects. The division has prepared the document, "Interpretive Guidelines for the Application of ANSI/ASQC Q9001-1994 or Q9002-1994 for Owner's & Designer's Quality Management Systems", on quality for engineering projects, available from the ASQ Bookstore.
INCOSE, the International Council on Systems Engineering, is an excellent resource both for Systems Engineers and for other professionals with an interest in this powerful discipline.
The Canadian Association of Management Consultants/Association Canadienne des Conseilleurs en Management, CMC-Canada, sets professional standards and administers certification programs for CMCs.
There are many excellent organizations that contribute to the quality of life in our community and around the world. I am proud to be a member of the Rotary Club of Toronto West proud presenters of the Rotary Youth Impact Awards. The Club welcomes inquiries from people interested in membership or in understanding more about the goals and activities of Rotary.
Responsible citizenship requires interest and participation in the processes of Government. It is an essential measure of the quality of the electoral process that the wishes of all voters are fairly represented by those elected. To this end we strongly support Fair Vote Canada, a multi-partisan organization dedicated to proportional representation in Canadian Elections.
Many clubs and societies support quality leisure activities. Check out the Longboat Roadrunners Club and the Isaak Walton Fly Fishing Club.
